Achieving the project goals and objectives will lead to the following results:
- Development of a robust public participation process, characterized by, at a minimum, an engaging project brand and media campaign, a project kickoff event, five public outreach series, five speakers series, surveys, a project website, and the use of social media tools
Assessment of the region’s current status using relevant data and information that documents current levels of sustainability, existing conditions and trends, and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT)
Integration of all existing regional planning efforts, in particular DART Forward 2035 and Capital Crossroads
Development of a preferred future vision for the region, generated through the use of an interactive alternative scenario modeling tool and public involvement
Development and adoption of new regional plans for land use, housing, transportation, economic development, infrastructure, and the environment
Promotion of possible refinements to state and local laws, to include sustainable planning principles
Recommendations for development of appropriate partnerships to support ongoing regional integration and collaboration
Establishment of a regional oversight entity to promote plan implementation and monitor metrics and performance, and suggest plan modifications
Identification of all entities responsible for implementation
Identification and recommendations for potential funding strategies
Adoption of strategic implementation plan for projects, initiatives and policies, including timeline
Development of 2050 Planning Document
