The planning process and resulting products will:
- Provide a forum for local stakeholders to participate collaboratively in the regional planning process
- Engage the public in the planning
- Promote regionalism
- Encourage and increase sustainability in Central Iowa
- Foster new and leverage existing relationships
- Serve as an example for local communities, for the state, and for the nation
- Empower jurisdictions, citizens, and other stakeholders to consider the interdependent challenges of:
- Economic competitiveness and revitalization
- Social equity, inclusion, and access to opportunity
- Energy use and climate change
- Public health and environmental impact
